Premiere Pro to DaVinci Resolve, and back.

Konformista reads the native .prproj — not a lossy XML or AAF export — and rebuilds the edit in Resolve frame for frame: transforms, retimes, transitions, and audio routing intact. When the grade is finished, it writes a graded Premiere project.

Konformista Project Hub showing tracked conform jobs across several projects.

The Project Hub. Every timeline in the handoff, tracked from analysis to graded return.

A Premiere → Resolve handoff breaks in two places. The timeline: XML and AAF are approximations. Speed ramps arrive wrong, multichannel audio loses its routing, nested and multicam sequences break, 4K shots in an HD timeline land punched-in, and in/out points shift on mixed-frame-rate cuts. And the media: ship full camera originals, or spend the first day of the grade relinking. Konformista addresses both.

Workflow

How it works

Three phases: build the conform in Konformista, finish it in Resolve, then write the graded project. Every step is tracked on the Project Hub.

Step 01

Build the conform

Konformista

  1. Drop the .prproj on the Hub
  2. Pick the sequence, set media folders
  3. Analyze — get preflight warnings
  4. Export or Send to Resolve
Step 02

Complete in Resolve

Konformer · Tools · Review · Kontroller

  1. Import the .konform package
  2. Review the flagged clips
  3. Relink & manage media
  4. Grade, then render the shots
Step 03

Grade back to Premiere

Konformista

  1. Drop the grade delivery on the Hub
  2. Konformista matches it to the job
  3. Write a graded .prproj
  4. Open your edit on graded picture

Build the conform

Analyze before anything ships

01Load

Drop the project

Drop a .prproj on the Hub. Konformista reads the project directly — Premiere doesn't need to be installed — lists every sequence, and finds the media in the folders you point it at. Originals or proxies.

02Analyze

Run the preflight

Every clip, transform, retime, transition, and audio route is checked against what Resolve can reproduce, then flagged by severity — each with a plain-language explanation and a recommended action. The conform doubles as a QC pass.

03Send

Hand it off

Build a portable .konform package — with or without trimmed media — or send the timeline straight to Resolve. Flags ride along as markers, clip colors, and a conform report.

Konformista analysis results grouping flagged clips by category and severity.

Analysis results. Issues group by category; each clip carries what it means, what to do in Resolve, and its track and timecode.

Preflight warnings

Six severities, from fix-now to for-reference

Most flags are a heads-up rather than a problem. The same scheme runs through the analysis, the clips in Resolve, and the Review window: work the oranges first, then a pass over the rest.

Error

Fix before you conform. Something is wrong — e.g. media offline. Relink it and re-analyze.

Warning

Won't transfer — rebuild in Resolve. Clip effects and Warp Stabilizer.

Review

Verify after import. Speed ramps, approximated transitions, nested sequences, collapsed tracks.

Rebuilt

Done for you — spot-check. Solid-color generators — Color Matte and Black Video rebuilt natively.

Info

A note for reference. Reframing & scaling, constant speed, freeze frames, opacity keyframes, audio effects, markers, Lumetri settings.

Placeholder

A stand-in you'll replace. Graphics, adjustment layers, and synthetic media arrive as disabled placeholders.

The full catalog of every flag is in the docs.

The suite

Three apps, one handoff

Whoever holds the footage runs the conform: an editor preparing a turnover, or a colorist bringing a Premiere project into their own suite.

Konformista

The main app

Analyzes a Premiere project, flags conform risks, and either sends the timeline straight to Resolve or builds a .konform package. Also writes the graded project on the return trip.

Konformer

Import companion

Opens a .konform package — with or without trimmed media — and imports it into Resolve. For the colorist who doesn't need the full app.

Kontroller

Media, markers, notes & billing

Runs beside the grade: relink and manage every clip, batch markers and colors, keep version-proof clip notes, build VFX pulls and place the returns, and track time through to the invoice. Opened from the tools palette over Resolve, or as a standalone app.

During the grade

Review and Kontroller

Konformista Review window listing flagged clips with reviewed checkboxes and a progress bar.

The Review window.

The Review window

The checklist during the grade. Every flagged clip, grouped by issue, with the same what-it-means guidance the editor saw. Click a row to move the Resolve playhead to that clip; mark it reviewed and its marker and color clear from the timeline.

  • Filter by severity — Warn, Review, Info
  • Live clip navigation on Resolve Studio
  • Export a CSV checklist for sign-off
Kontroller window listing project clips filtered by online, offline and mismatch state.

The Kontroller window.

The Kontroller window

Every media clip in the project, filtered by online, offline, or frame-rate mismatch. Select the offline clips, point it at a folder, and apply the confident matches. Batch colors, flags, markers, and takes from one action bar.

  • Filter online / offline / mismatch
  • Relink, replace, or add an alternate take
  • Build a VFX pull timeline from a selection

Also included

VFX pull and the return trip

Marker-driven VFX pull

Mark ranges on the timeline and Konformista gathers the source clips beneath them, padded with handles, into a pull timeline — queues the plate renders in Resolve, writes a CSV shot list that ShotGrid, ftrack, or Nuke Studio can import, and keeps a turnover ledger of what went where, and which version.

The return trip

When the grade is done, drop the delivery on the Hub. Konformista matches it to the job and writes a new Premiere project pointing at the graded masters — your exact edit, effects intact, now on the color-corrected picture. Every pass is versioned, so nothing is overwritten.

Trimmed media

Ship the frames the edit uses

Camera originals are big. Turn on Pack trimmed media and the .konform carries only the frames the edit uses of the original camera files, plus handles. On import, Konformer unpacks normal, online, gradeable media on the other side — same names, same timecode, no quality loss.

  • Camera-format aware — ProRes, H.264/265, MXF, R3D, BRAW, DPX/EXR, WAV
  • Handles from 6 to 48 frames — 12 as a sensible default
  • Stills, graphics, and anything it can't safely trim ship whole

  • Everything runs locally — nothing is uploaded

macOS (.pkg) and Windows (.exe)  ·  Linux planned  ·  DaVinci Resolve 18.0+  ·  Premiere Pro 14+ projects

Local by design

Konformista runs entirely on your machine. Projects and media are never uploaded, there are no clip limits, and your originals are never modified — it only ever writes new files.

What it is not

Not a transcoder — it doesn't re-encode your masters. Not a grade translator — it reports grade intent, it doesn't recreate a look. Not a replacement for human QC — it makes the review faster, it doesn't replace the eyes.
