Media
The Media tab lists every media item with its online state, frame rate, resolution, in/out, and how many times the timeline uses it. Filter to what matters — the open timeline, online, offline, or frame-rate mismatch — and fix it from there.
Select the offline clips, point Kontroller at a folder, and apply the confident matches. Replace a clip or add an alternate take without leaving the window.
Tick rows and set clip colors, flags, and markers in Resolve from one action bar — or click a single row's swatch to set just that clip.
Click a row and the Resolve playhead moves to that clip. The table opens sorted by record in, so it reads in timeline order.
Markers
A small frameless strip that floats on top of everything — including Resolve — so tagging never means switching windows. Scrub, press M to drop a timeline marker, clip marker, or flag in the chosen color, and jump between markers with the arrow keys. In/Out on the same bar captures a VFX pull range.

Notes & client feedback
A note is a comment pinned to a frame of source media. Because it's keyed to the media and its source frame — not a timecode — it lands on the right frame even after the cut is reordered, retimed, renamed, or reconformed. Notes live in their own store: clearing every marker in Resolve leaves them untouched.
CSV from Frame.io, Vimeo, Dropbox Replay, or MediaSilo; SRT/VTT subtitles; a Word, RTF, or PDF document; or a pasted email of timed comments. Each comment is matched to the clip it lands on, with a preview before anything is added. Re-importing an updated export updates notes in place instead of duplicating them.
Click a note to send the playhead to its frame; as you scrub, the panel highlights the nearest note on the current clip. Tick notes done as you clear them, filter All / Open / Done, and batch-edit the rest.
Turning notes into Resolve markers is a separate, deliberate step: pick a kind — timeline marker, clip marker, flag, or color — and a color, and open notes are written in. Place them, clear the markers, place them again whenever you like.
Notes travel between machines by export/import payload — how an editor's notes reach the colorist. In the beta they don't yet ride inside the .konform itself.
VFX pull & returns
Mark ranges on the timeline — or seed them from editorial flags — and Kontroller gathers the source clips beneath them, padded with handles, into a pull.
Set handles and a vendor profile, then deliver: Kontroller trims straight from the camera originals where it can — including R3D and BRAW — and renders through Resolve only where it must. The CSV shot list reads directly into ShotGrid, ftrack, or Nuke Studio, with optional per-shot CDL/LUT values beside each plate, and a provenance record travels with the pull so every returned comp can be matched to its shot weeks later.
When the vendor delivers, the Returns tab matches each file to the shot it came from — even after a recut — and places it on a new track above the original. Clean matches arrive pre-ticked; doubtful ones wait for you. An optional Finish Pass writes the retimes, sub-frame alignment, and animated reframes Resolve can't set live, as a new versioned timeline.
The VFX tabs drive Resolve directly, so they need Resolve Studio.
Time tracking
Kontroller records per-project time and tells work from idle, so a conform or grade bills accurately without a separate stopwatch. Billable time is time at the desk, minus idle.
The timer auto-pauses after a few minutes of inactivity and resumes on its own — with a longer grace on the Color page, where panel grading sends no keystrokes — and it never pauses through a render. Track automatically and it starts and stops as you open timelines in Resolve.
Every session lands in the project's time ledger with a work/idle breakdown and an activity split — Prep, Conform/Edit, Color, Fusion, Audio, Render — each editable and individually billable. Day, Week, and Months views zoom from one session to a year of revenue.
When Resolve fills the screen, pop out the Timer Bar — a frameless strip that stays on top, with the live clock and the project's budget burn underneath it.
Billing
Set an hourly or day rate in your currency, with rounding that matches how a client reads a bill. Override it per project or per activity — color at one rate, conform at another. Give a project a budget in hours or money and a burn bar fills gold, amber, red as you work — on the Hub, in the ledger, and on the floating Timer Bar.
Pick a client and/or project, then export: a send-ready branded PDF with tax, discount, and a scan-to-pay QR code; a Generic CSV; Xero and QuickBooks Online imports; or a detailed time sheet for the record. Exporting stamps every session it covers, so the next invoice bills only what's new — and each invoice tracks its state: open, overdue, or paid.
Invoicing needs no Resolve connection.
Kontroller installs with the Konformista suite and opens from the tools palette over Resolve, or as its own app. A separate standalone release is planned. It's still being built out during the beta.
macOS or Windows, with DaVinci Resolve 18.0+. Live features — clip navigation, marker writes, VFX delivery — use Resolve Studio's scripting. Without a connection the lists, ledger, and invoicing still work.
Kontroller is part of the Konformista beta — free while it lasts.
